About us

CODEFA is a non-governmental organization registered on 15 May 2006 under the Non-Government Organisations Act NO 24 of 2002 with registration number 00ngo/0072 working to ensure equitable and sustainable economic well-being of all communities in Mainland Tanzania. We raise awareness at the grassroots level and facilitate communities to critically analyze their situation, identify opportunities and obstacles to development, and organize themselves to bring about their development. Our primary objective is to enable marginalized and vulnerable communities to effectively participate in eradicating poverty.

Our Vision is a knowledgeable, medium-income society, sustainably improving its living standard to high-income status.

Our mission is to enable marginalized and vulnerable communities to seize opportunities innovatively and use resources sustainably to improve their living standard.

Our strategic focus:is on good governance and Democracy, climate change and digital rights, Gender equality, and child protection. The strategy is to strengthen the capacity of citizen groups and civil society organizations in areas of social pritection and climate action, human rights, advocacy and empowerment, and tracking of public resources. The thrust is to improve the capacity of marginalized groups to identify opportunities and make use of science and technology to harness resources for their sustainable development. To achieve this aim, we will promote entrepreneurial and life skills education for women, youth, the elderly, and disabled persons.

2. Communities at all levels are engaged in judicious and effective litigation of resources
3. Citizens, particularly marginalized communities, are informed, confident, and effectively engaged in the planning and implementation of development strategies
